Register
This is step one of three. Everyone who applies, whether individually or as part of a team, must register via this form separately. After registration, continue with steps two and three as outlined on the application.
Deadline: Midnight on Thursday, November 6.
Requirements
- Any active Daily Bruin contributor or staff member is eligible to apply — including graduating seniors.
- The completed project must publish in the Daily Bruin within the academic year that the scholarship was awarded or the first quarter of the following year.
- 1-3 students can work on a single project.
- Proposals should focus on reporting that is ABOVE and BEYOND what The Bruin is normally able to do.
- Topics should have a clear link to UCLA and be relevant to the community.
- Photojournalism must be a primary storytelling method. Additional storytelling methods (e.g. video, multimedia, and information graphics) are encouraged and, given Bridget’s tradition of cross-training in the newsroom, proposals with numerous story-telling methods will be given priority.
- Applicants may be invited to interview with members of the Bridget O’Brien Scholarship Selection Committee on Saturday, November 22 at UCLA. The selected applicant(s) shall, prior to acceptance, receive additional terms and conditions governing the scholarship. Submit questions to info@rememberingbridget.com.
